Picnic Day: A Cat's POV

It’s Fun Poetry Friday! 🥳 Annnnd Nezuko is back again! Sorry, I slept last week away, but now I’m back with a new poem about my picnicking adventure! And no! It’s not a haiku this time!

Over the weekend, we went adventuring (I prefer the house, to be honest). But it was a special occasion, so fiiiine. I’ll tolerate that stupid harness. The weather was nice. Not a lot of bugs for me to kill but that is okay. It wasn’t windy which I liked. Wind scares me 😖.

We went to a park and found a quiet place to set up. My pawrents set out snacks for all of us and let me out of my backpack carrier. I cautiously got out and explored a bit. I made sure to be low to the ground; this is new territory. Who knows what sort of predators are out here? I must protect my pawrents! I saw my first bumblebee, and I wanted to lay it to waste, but Mummy didn’t allow me.

Eventually, I thought it was safe enough for us to settle down, so I went back to our picnic area to relax. I decided to go into my backpack, which I hate, by the way! But it felt safe in there, and I could people-watch.

Just me kinda relaxing

Sooooo, here’s my poem!

Off we go again, the road's a blur,

In the car, I softly purr.

Another trip, it’s apparent,

Yelling “Whyyy” to my parents.

We found a spot that was purrfect,

I got out to inspect.

Cautiously, I sniff and peek,

Ew, I see a dog by the creek.

Then I saw a bumblebee, what fun!

But Mom says no, it's not to be done.

Then, with Dad, I stroll around the grass,

And I did so with class.

Back to the picnic blanket, safe and sound,

In my carrier, I watch all that surrounds.

Gazing out, I watch and see,

Picnic days are just for me!

Weekly fun fact!

As usual, here’s my fun cat fact with each posting: We’re better than you! No, really. History says so, and we remember it well.

  • We are highly revered in ancient Egypt and ancient Greece. 🫅🐈

  • Kill any of us in Egypt and you’ll be tried for death!! 😈

  • You can thank the Vikings for us conquering the world. We’re also gifts to new brides! 🎁

  • In ancient Japan, we were sacred and ward off evils. ⛩️

Our anmeowsters knew what they were doing, hence why you’re still scooping our poop to this day. 💅

🐾 I’ll see you all after my next slumber!! Nezuko, signing off. 🐾
